LOCAL STUDENTS BENEFIT FROM FORD COMMERCIAL
SHOT AT CPV SENTINEL PLANT
Desert Hot Springs, CA (January 26, 2014) - Continuing a trend of shooting more film, television print and commercials in the Coachella Valley, the Ford Motor Company chose to shoot the commercial for their new F-150 truck at the Competitive Power Ventures (CPV)Sentinel Energy Project plant just outside of Desert Hot Springs. CPV donated the entire commercial location fee for the use of the plant to the Renewable Energy Academy of Learning (REAL Academy) at Desert Hot Springs High School for student scholarships to college.
CPV Sentinel has been a long-term supporter of the REAL Academy where students learn about clean renewable energy and are prepared for careers in the energy sector. CPV Sentinel as provided on-going support for student scholarships and is currently working on an internship program for academy students at the school.
Mike Phelan, Director of the REAL Academy at Desert Hot Springs High School said, “CPV Sentinel has been a remarkable partner to our students who are studying for careers in the energy sector providing much needed support in the way of scholarships and grants. They generously donated the entire location fee for the filming of the Ford commercial to our academy which will provide additional scholarship money for our most deserving students.”
Mark McDaniels, Vice President of CPV said, “We are delighted that our plant was highlighted in the new commercial. Ford was wonderful to work with and having them at the plant was a terrific experience. We thank them for the generous location fee that we were able to use to help the REAL academy students at Desert Hot Springs High School.
The CPV Sentinel Energy Project is California’s newest power plant capable of producing 800-megawatts using the most modern “peaking” gas power generation technology available protecting the region from blackouts while providing electricity to approximately 640,000 homes in Southern California Edison’s service territory.
